This year’s I Love My Park Day, held on Saturday May 6, 2017, was a big success, with more than 60 volunteers turning out to support Schodack Island State Park. The weather was cool and cloudy with breaks of sun. Things got underway at 9am when volunteers were greeted by park manager John Lowe and Friend’s president Dan Odell. Park staff were on hand to supervise activities and keep everyone organized. Projects completed included staining new bird blinds, preparing flower beds and planting flowers, cleaning up the river shoreline and other park areas. After a morning’s hard work, volunteers were treated to a cook out by Friends of Schodack Island State Park. A big thank you to all those who came and helped out!
