Coming Soon In the Park:

Boating season will soon be here and boaters are asking, when will the docks be in?  The docks should go in the water around mid-April.  Check with the park office.

Calling all kids! Calling all kids!  In partnership with the Youth Services Librarian at the Castleton Public Library, Schodack Island State Park will soon see “Take a Story Walk.”  The intent of this project is to get young children reading AND exercising.  The library will take apart a picture book, laminate it, and post the pages on stakes about 40 paces apart along a half mile portion of trail in the park.  Kids and parents will enjoy the story and the pictures and nature as they read the book and walk the trail.

New staff are coming to the park, a new supervisor to help manage the campground and two Environmental Educator interns, who will be shared with Peebles Island State Park.

The 5th Annual Saratoga-Capital District Geocache Challenge is set to start on May 28th and go until Veteran’s Day, November 11th.  Fun for the whole family!  New to Geocaching?  It’s a treasure hunt in the woods using a hand held GPS.  Get more information at the park office.
